BIOGRAPHY OF DAVE CAMPBELL a.k.a Macsimus
Dave “Macsimus” Campbell, a very talented and committed musician, was born on October 09, 1981 in Kingston, Jamaica.
He attended The Little All Saints Basic School, Chetolah Park Primary School, and Tivoli Gardens High School.
Macsimus enjoys listening to all genres of music, but his preference is Reggae and Dancehall. Being a positive and confident musician, he has no problem sharing his musical ideas.
He enjoys writing but it wasn’t until his High School tenure that his skills were realized.
Many times, he and his classmates would create a musical atmosphere in the classroom by using their hands to pound on the desk creating beats while Macsimus would sing songs from various genres including Reggae and Dancehall.
He was the class’s entertainer and DJ. At that time, doing cover songs was the thing to do while his writing skills was being perfected.
Despite not completing High School, Macsimus began taking music very seriously, and started to write and sing his own compositions.
His first recording was a demo track entitled “All eyes on Me”, a song he wrote and recorded at Sugar Minott’s Youth Man Promotion’s studio.
Since then, he has recorded several demos at Cash Flow Records. He is also known to do several dub plates, and this came about while he was staying in St. Thomas, a small parish not far from Kingston. His first dub plate was done for “Tactics Disco”.
Macsimus did not allow the Covid-19 Pandemic to hinder his career and during this time, has recorded and released several singles such as, “Let Jah be Praised”, “Survival Route”, “Step in the Streets”, “Body in Motion” and others. Prior to the pandemic, he performed at several local stage shows in St. Thomas and Kingston including, “Ghetto Bash”.
Macsimus continues to work on his craft and his EP is expected to be released early 2023.
